From trap to chill-hop, the hip-hop genre is ever evolving, always expanding. One of the sub-genres thats been increasingly buzzing is emo-rap. I first got put on to the sound after the unfortunate death of Juice Wrld. I'd connected with the song when it first popped, but only fully appreciated his unique contributions to the game after his passing. Now I have a whole emo playlist on Spotify, and I'm always keeping my ears open for new music. That's how I came across this up-and coming emo-rap artist named Rico Sixx.
Rico Sixx brings together intense and fiery themes of strength, passion, emotions, feelings and sculpts them into pieces that are guided by the foundation laid down by the fathers of emo-rap. On his new emo-trap single, Touch the Sky, Rico lays out his emotions over a sick trap beat, rapping, "I do this for my brothers that are laying in the dirt. "

Prior to dropping this new song, he released three singles: Crazy, Alone and Throw It Back with NYCL KAI. He has a way of making things quite vivid with his lyrics, telling only the story that comes from the heart.
His music can be described as heartfelt story that take your mind through a journey of deep introspection, blended with infectious beats and hooks that keep the listener coming back from more.Stylistically, Rico Sixx’s music echoes influences from some of the greats, notably Xxxtentacion, Juice Wrld and Lil Peep.
From then on, he’s linked up with producers like THXLUKE, BelieveInAngelz, and CoshMadeIt who have helped helm his sound and also collaborated with NYCL KAI on “Throw It Back” who he also went on a tour with.
