Mixtape Review: Da'Keen Makes Soul + Rap Collide on 'It's Just a Fixtape'

Music is an art form. Artists come in all shapes and sizes, and each has a unique story to tell. For Atlanta based artist Da’Keen, he is making music that is driven by a desire to motivate, inspire, comfort and spread love and joy to all those that hear it. His latest EP, "It's Just a Fixtape", is a 3 song rap project that does just that.

Free99 is a cool opening track that  opens the door into Da'Keen's world, spitting pieces of his story. The track is set to a simple beat with heavy high hats and some nice piano instrumentals. It shows off Da’Keen's modern approach to hip hop. He is no ordinary rapper; the brother is a multi-talented vocalist, musician and songwriter.

"Give the game away for Free99"

Da’Keen is the embodiment of originality and versatility and uses his musical acumen and ideas to create an amalgamated and original sound. He makes music in the new age soul/r&b genre as well as hip hop, house and Neo soul and funk genres. You can hear some of this fusion on Picture Me Rollin'. The soulful/funky instrumentation takes the lead on this track. His lyrics fit in the grooves and he delivers a tune that has a real "chill-hop" feel. Real mellow and easy to vibe on. You can listen to his project on Spotify
