Lyricist/Rapper, MJ Conjures Up the 'Moonlight'

Houston, Texas is home to loads of musicians.  And while no two are alike, the market is saturated with emerging artists trying to rise up from the pack. It takes more than just talent to stand out in hip hop; one needs grit, originality, and patience. At 29 years old, rapper/lyricist, MJ is hitting her marks with her new single, Moonlight. The track is refreshing in its approach to hip-hop. It's an experimental, highly musical,  and soulful sound. The track plays on her skills as a lyricist and as a musician. She is no ordinary rapper.

Born in California, raised Florida, and now based out of Texas, it should come as no surprise that her sound is unique. MJ melodically sings through her poetic bars --adding hints of spoken word and neo-soul to her style.  Her lyrics are dope, like when she spits, "erase the pain with your white chalk."

"You always looking at me, but I never see you..."

Moonlight is unconventional with its guitar loops, r&b type drum beat, and MJ's smooth delivery. The slow-burning, mellow vibe on the track makes it great for the kickback playlist.
