ALBUM REVIEW: 'Young Tee's Off Da Wall' Has Southern Hip Hop Vibes All Over It

Young Tee is a rapper with a flair for the trapping of street life. His debut album, "Young Tee's Off Da Wall" is an introduction to his world. As he makes clear in the intro, the project is raw, real, and Tee gives no apologies for its content. He's originally from Memphis, Tennessee, and although he now resides in Las Vegas, this album has southern rap vibes all over it.

There's a lot of fresh hip hop talent flowing outta Music City like NLE Choppa, Pooh Sheisty, MoneyBagg Yo and Young Dolph. And when you mix that with the the Sin City vibes, Young Tee is bound to have a sound that is truly his own.  Listening to "Off Da Wall", I could hear a heavy influence of earlier Southern Hip Hop's sounds.  For example,  Tee's sound and the overall vibe of the track, Spend da nite reminds me of a group outta Louisiana from the early 00s called Prime Time which released a classic called Tell Me Why

Young Tee's sound feels like a mix of Jazze Pha, Manny Fresh, and Boosie Bad Azz. On the song, Off da Wall which also features Freddy B, Tee really turns up the heat. It's a party record for sure. He raps, "and he night don't end til I'm outta my draws"

"I pledge allegiance to these streets and Imma speak my heart"

The beat on Real Shyt is sick af. This track goes hard for the trap life. He spits, "pull up on ya right beside you won't feel shit, while I'm whippin up in traffic with the blunt lit. A nigga stay in court up on some dumb sh*t".

Other notable songs on the album include Ace, I Like That which has a subtle hint of West Coastness about it, and Take Sumphin, an upbeat banger that is radio and playlist ready.

Young Tee has the chops, the production team, and the respect for the big homies... and you can hear it in his delivery. His lyrical content is made unique with his southern lingo, laid back flow, and the authentic references to how he lives and moves. The album is one to stream.
