IamOaks Is Separating the 'Real From The Fake' on Hot New Single [EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW]


IamOaks is a NYC based hip hop artist on the come up. Last month he dropped a sick track entitled Real from the Fake. The single has the rapper/singer buzzin'.  On the song, he delivers a sound that's a cross between Roddy Rich, Akon and Rod Wave. It's a melodic trap tune with progressive R&B type vibes. Perhaps the unique sound and feel of the track is what got it picked up on Spotifys Release Radar and played on 104.7 FM.

He shows off his songwriting skills with the lyrical content on the track. He sings, "Imma keep it real, the homies keep it trill, and we dressed to kill."

How long have you been rapping?

I've been making music for 4 years now..

Musically, who/what are your influences?

Musically influenced by Bone thugs n harmony, Max B, and Nipsey Hussle

How has your life/upbringing inspired your lyrics? What do you draw upon for your lyrical content?

Im inspired by my family and good energy around me. 
I come up with the lyrics as I'm in the booth all through a vibe and feeling..

When you're not in the studio, what do you spend most of your time doing?

When I'm not in the studio, I'm at the barbershop cutting up clients giving them a fresh cut... calling it "TvLines" my haircut brand.. or I could just be out with the homies acting a fool🤣 .
