Pagne is an up-and-coming hip hop/r&b artist outta San Diego, California. His gift of storytelling stems from his unique ability to craft infectious tunes and relatable narratives. After entering the music world in 2006, he set himself apart from the crowded field of indie "SoundCloud rappers" by drawing on his personal experiences and strong emotions to really connect with listeners and gain a fanbase. To date, he's garnered over 200K streams and has expanded reach-- pushing his music on all major streaming platforms. Now, with the release of his new album, "Dora", Pagne is sure to widen his reach.
The 11 track project is a musical exploration into the life of Pagne himself. The futuristic, progressive trap sound is the first thing you feel listening to the opener, Drop It. The independent artist is a backpack rapper. As the project progresses, his lyrics center around his 4+ years in the game, the grind, the release, and the Hard Days, a a song that also features EMoneyOne11. On the track he sings, "growing up my daddy gone. Momma working just to feed the fam. Had to make a plan. I started hustling just to be the man." The vocals, the song, and the reflection on the struggle gave me a Rod Wave's Tombstone vibe. Pagne, was raised in Florida, so the similitude makes sense.
Being an avid storyteller, Pagne is greatly influenced by real life, drawing inspiration for his music from personal experiences, allowing him to invoke strong emotions in people. Apart from invoking emotions, Pagne also seems to have a unique innate competency to seemlessly present music in multiple styles, all while maintaining a consistent brand, one of the factors that make this artist one to keep an eye out for. On the track, Confused, Pagne shows off his stylistic versatility. The song has an afrobeats vibe and a sick hook. On the love song, he melodically sings, "I'm different. I ain't nothing like them boys, I'm gifted."
With big dreams and plenty of energy to spare, Pagne seeks to positively influence society with his music, and is well on his way to becoming one of the most phenomenal artists in our generation. Other standouts on "Dora" include The Saddest, Forbidden Fruit, and Move.
