Brooklyn Rapper, Amari Mar Takes Listeners on Lyrical Journey on 'Grand Rising'

Amari Mar is a rap artist straight outta Brooklyn, New York. Earlier this year, he released a project entitled, "Grand Rising"

He has a deep respect for the culture and you can hear that play out in his lyrical content. He counts amongst his musical influences, "lyrical geniuses" like Nas, Rakim, Wu Tang Clan, Public Enemy, Big Daddy Kane, Kool G Rap, and The Notorious Big.

On the song, HOLY SH!T, Mar shows off his solid flow. His delivery feels like he's one of the classics. There's that East Coast, laid back, conscious type energy in this track. On the track which was produced by Act Won, he spits about health, clean eating, and his divine blackness.  The music video for the track reminds me of a young LL Cool J. Amari Mar keeps it close to home, showing off a sick graffiti filled tunnel, the subway, and a dope bucket hat.

"Tryna live civilized in this hell that you living is a challenge"

You can also appreciate Mar's cool, calm and collected energy on The Chosen One. There's a chill-hop feel on the beat that mixes jazzy percussion with the elements of classic hip hop. And he dropped a video for the song in July that shows hims meditating and connecting with nature. The video is innovative and relatable. It's a vibe. Again, he shows his acumen as a lyricist. On the track, he raps, "this is beautiful, amazing. I'm walking barefooted. The grass is like the cushion that's underneath my toes" The lyrics and the video make the song come alive.
