Rap Duo, Medium Wiener Talks Representation, 'Nardo Dick' and New Album

Over the weekend, I was introduced to a rap duo from Bullitt County, Kentucky. "We both play on our schools football team," the two teens explained. Beyond their physical athleticism, they are beasts on the mic, and now they're take their local hip hop community by storm with their fun-witted yet groundbreaking music as Medium Wiener.

Last week they dropped a hot new single entitled, Nardo Dick. It's a raw and raunchy rap song with funny lyrics like, "please be quiet, I'm tryna f*ck. I just hit ya brody up and I f*cked him in his butt."  The song has a drill type beat that's kinda catchy. With the right dance challenge, I could very easily see loops of this song going viral on TikTok or Triller.

While some may find that Medium Wiener's content makes them uncomfortable, they really aren't that out of the box. They're both gay, but mainstream rappers have made references to their genitalia, getting head, and sexual exploration part of the norm. Whats dope though, is how braggadocious they are with it. And it's all done in a bro'd up, uber-masculine, hip hop kinda way.  

Their most impressive work was the group's 2021 EP, "The Coming Out Party". The 8 track project mixes sex and humor with beats and bars. The rap duo, 16 and 17 year old high school juniors, are just getting started, but coming out hard. "We decided to start making music one day out of no where for fun, and next thing you knew we blew up at our school." Since then, they have started to spread to their music to other neighboring schools and recently began uploading their music to Apple Music and Spotify.

"The Coming Out Party" has a couple dope tracks including Dat Boy, Penis Gang, and Break Me. But my favorite song on the EP is Roses, Backshots, and Chocolate. Sonically, the song has a subdued,  experimental rap feel with seductive live drums, cloudy instrumentation, and melodic rap vocals.  There is such liberation in their sexual freedom and expressiveness. It's an STI that I hope is contagious.

Who are some of your musical influences?

As you will hear in our songs we use beats that are influenced by artists such as Tyler, the Creator on Roses, Backshots and Chocolates. Some other influences are NBA YoungBoy and Nardo Wick.

How would you describe this project, sound wise?

The coming out party, is a comedic hip hop album that shines light on the LGTBQ+ community by giving us (we are both homosexuals) an outlet to express ourselves.

Who would be your dream collab?

Our dream collab would most likely be Jack Harlow or Doja Cat.

On Valentine's Day, Medium Wiener will drop a brand new album entitled, "Gay Porn in the Making." I can only imagine what that will bring, but I'm sure it will be quite a listen. The duo's music is available now on Spotify and other major streaming platforms.
