EP REVIEW: Rapper, Kayoss Kicks It Up a Notch With New EP, 'Incantations Pt. 1'

Kayoss is a rising hip hop artist who is taking his firey brand of hip hop music well beyond the borders of his home state of Missouri. At just 24 years old, he's already been crowned as Missouri's Best Local Hip Hop Artist by Missouri Magazine, and gained noteriety from being 1/4 of the hip hop group, Really Bad people. Now, the rapper is setting the stage on fire with his new project, "Incantations Pt. 1".

The 6 song EP kicks off with Blu, an introspective meets backpack rap vibe where he raps about his "blu" mood. On the track he spits, "I ain't gon lie, I'm feeling really low, bruh. I hope ya never feel the way that I do right now."

"Clocked into work. Already wishing that its over..."
Keep it Movin mixes that chill hop, lofi sound with a more upbeat, positive kinda musical energy. On the song, you'll hear Kayoss chanting, "keep it movin'" as he raps, "pick up yo feet. Take a step. Don't look back." With this song, he brings an inspirational vibe to the project.

Kayoss was born in Sparta, Missouri, but now calls Springfield home. But no matter where he is, his lyrical acumen and battle-rap, basement spirit, shine through in his music. His project is a delight  for any hip hop lover.

In addition to being an artist, he's also sits behind the computer putting in that grind as a producer to make sure his sound refelects his style and intentions. Musically, his influences include Action Bronson, Wu-Tang, J Cole, and Smino.

Another dope song on the EP is Runtz. He goes beastmode on the song and really sets himself apart as a rapper. He delivers really strong bars, and the beat on the track is sick. Kayoss has been making music since 2018, and he's currently doing studio production work at M8AVR. He's worked with artists such as Caskey, Eazy Mac, Mac Lethal, Oren Major, Michael Christmas, and Mark Battles.
